A trio of classy Denver & Rio Grande Western Alco PA units leads The California Zephyr on the second leg of its Chicago to San Francisco trek. These three units were purchased by the D&RGW in 1947 for use on "the Cal-Z" and only wore the black and gold "as-delivered" livery until 1950.
