This Wild Weasel F-105 is returning from its 100th mission over North Vietnam in November 1968.
One of the most dangerous missions continuously flown over North Vietnam was flak and surface-to-air missile (SAM) suppression by the Fairchild built F-105F Wild Weasels. These brave and dedicated two man crews purposely drew fire in advance of the strike force in order to locate, intimidate or destroy enemy defenses.
F-105 #62-4424 "Crown 7" was the aircraft assigned to Major John Revak, pilot, and Major Stan Goldstein, Electronic Warfare Officer, of the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 388th Tactical Fighter Wing based at Korat, Thailand. The artist was present in November 1968, to participate in the celebration of their 100th mission over North Vietnam.
