In a tribute to the men of the 363rd Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, Michael has painted a superb and inspired rendition of the Squadron assembling over the coast of southeast England. Armed and fueled, they fly a course that will soon rendezvous them with the bombers they will escort. In 15 months of flying combat, the 357th produced one of the most remarkable combat records of the war: 609 1/2 enemy aircraft destroyed, another 106 1/2 destroyed on the ground. No other group shot down more Me-262 jets or created more aces than did the 357th.
